“I wanted to create a modern, Tulum-inspired bohemian style that incorporated a neutral color palette and layered textures,” says Aimee Paquin, owner and creative director at Modernly Events. “This all lent itself to feeling elevated but still casual. We layered a lot of different natural fibers and materials (wood, rattan, raffia, bamboo, grapewood/driftwood, dried palm leaves, dried bunny tails)…then softened it with the floral selections and touches of velvet.”
Long velvet ribbons were used to wrap the utensils. “The folding bistro chairs, raw-edges napkins and placemats, and tying the utensils together helped us achieve the more casual vibe.“Using a mix of dried and fresh floral also really helped push the bohemian style beyond the typical Pinterest inspiration and pampas grass.”
“My approach to building out a tablescape is layering a range of elements rather than just one or two to add more visual interest and depth to the design. Ceramic taper holders paired with brass tealight holders and placed along a variety of floral arrangements, then bringing those elements into the place setting through the white and gold flatware, dried palm leaf decor, and seagrass placemats.”
