Malia Hain, Troy, to Scott Kleespies, Madison, Wis. August 22, 2020
WHEN MALIA HAIN and Scott Kleepsies started planning their wedding in August 2019, their main goal was to create a timeless, luxurious event with touches of modernity. Both doctors who live in Chicago, they booked Gabriella Ammiano of the V Agency to work with the bride’s parents to plan and coordinate every detail. The pieces were all in place — but then the pandemic hit. The couple’s original venue was closed, but they were adamant about moving forward with their wedding plans, so Ammiano had to think fast. “We had about 40 days to completely change venues and start planning from scratch,” she says. “Pivoting our plans to adhere to the pandemic guidelines ended up being the best blessing.” The wedding was moved to the front gardens at The War Memorial in Grosse Pointe Farms, and Ammiano got to work on a new design. “The overall aesthetic stayed the same, but we added a lush garden vibe because of the new venue,” she says. The entire garden, including the fountain, was enclosed with a clear top tent to give the illusion of an event space, and a color palette of white, light gray, and pale blue created a clean, fresh ambiance. The fountain was filled with roses and surrounded with candles. “When the sun went down, it created the most romantic setting for a summer wedding,” Ammiano says. “It was truly a moment.”
