Stephanie & Taylor

Stephanie Rumao, Novi, to Taylor Hennrick, Royal Oak October 10, 2020

ON JANUARY 11, 2020 two excited souls started wedding planning after a surprise engagement for the bride-to-be at the Highlands Restaurant in Detroit. Little did Stephanie Rumao and Taylor Hennrick know that the hard work of checking off boxes on their never ending wedding to-do list would come to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Month after month, the couple witnessed close friends’ weddings get postponed and cases continuing to rise as venues shut down. Although they were hopeful that a fall wedding would still be possible, by July they realized their three day Indian-American wedding celebration for 400 guests was not going to come to fruition. What remained constant despite the obstacles, though, was their love for one another and the desire to get married on their original wedding date. Rumao and Hennrick decided to postpone their reception until 2021, and continued with a wedding ceremony and dinner for 75 immediate family and friends. Though it wasn’t what they initially envisioned, “our wedding day was perfect thanks to all those who attended physically and virtually,” the couple says. “Love triumphs all, including COVID!”
