GETTING MARRIED IN THE WINTER doesn’t mean you can’t add a little color to your celebration. With their cheery pastel hues and exquisite sugar flowers, this cake duo created by Ann Arbor bakery Sweet Heather Anne would look equally lovely on the dessert table at your bridal shower or wedding.

“One of our team members got married last summer, and we fell in love with her dreamy color palette filled with rainbow pastels. We used her color inspiration when creating these designs,” says Heather Leavitt, owner of Sweet Heather Anne.

To create the realistic sugar flowers, each petal is hand sculpted with gumpaste then dusted with edible powders to create variations in color and bring them to life. The design includes an exotic mix of blooms, including Japanese anemones, ranunculus, anemones, scabiosa, and begonia leaves, with each edible flower taking 20 minutes to two hours to craft.
