SOMETIMES WHERE you fall in love is just as precious as how you fall in love. For my husband and I, the leafy, tree-lined streets of the University of Michigan’s Ann Arbor campus will always evoke the early days of our budding romance. We met during his senior year at U-M, and I will always remember our walks through the Law Quad, the late night milkshakes at Tios, and watching movies in his tiny, cramped student apartment on State Street. Ann Arbor is where our love story began, and the city will always be near and dear to my heart.
That’s why I’m thrilled to share this issue with you; it’s filled with beautiful stories from my own little “city of love.” In our proposal story, “From the Heart” (page 58), we share how Heather Leavitt, the incredibly talented woman behind the gorgeous cakes at Ann Arbor-based bakery Sweet Heather Anne, met — and then re-met — the man she is about to marry.
